General dental

From a routine check-up to wisdom tooth removal, general dentistry involves a wide variety of dental treatments which all aim to maintain your oral health.

  • Teeth cleaning and gum treatments
  • Tooth replacements
  • Tooth-coloured fillings

Cosmetic dental

We all know first impressions are important. Dr Mark Calvert and his team are very experienced in all aspects of cosmetic dentistry and can transform your smile from worn-out to warm and boost your self-esteem and confidence.

Creating a beautiful smile requires an understanding of biology as well as artistic flair. We look at each element of your smile from the shape, shade and position of your teeth, to the relationship of the teeth to the gums and other supporting tissues.

Depending on your goals, some of the options for cosmetic dentistry include:

Tooth whitening

Even subtle changes such as teeth whitening can have a dramatic impact on your appearance. At New Farm Dental Studio we can remove stains and add some sparkle to your pearly whites.

We offer tooth whitening options to suit all lifestyles and budgets. Both our in-house (Pola-Office) and take-home (Opalescence GO) whitening systems avoid abrasives and use a peroxide solution that oxidises away stains that results in a brighter smile.

Cosmetic clear aligners

Get beautifully straight teeth with our custom-made clear aligners. The aligners we use are called ‘Clear Correct’ and they are a great alternative to traditional wire braces. With clear, removable aligners, most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them.

The start of the makeover process begins with a consultation. During your appointment, you will have the chance to discuss what you want to achieve with Dr Mark Calvert who will then incorporate his clinical findings into a personalised treatment plan.

Veneers

Our team has helped many patients improve their smiles with the help of dental veneers. If you feel unhappy about the colour, size or shape of your teeth, the thin shells of high-quality porcelain used by our Brisbane dentists are translucent and durable so they look natural yet are strong enough to endure daily chewing and temperature fluctuations.

From design to placement, the whole veneer process typically takes just two visits. In the first visit, we look at your facial features, skin tone, mouth shape and personal preferences before taking impressions and showing you the digital preview of how your smile will look.

We then put temporary veneers in place. The temporary veneers will allow you to become accustomed to the look and feel of your new smile. After your handcrafted porcelain veneers arrive, you will come in for a second visit where the dentist will cement them in place.

Preventative dental

Preventative dental does what it says on the box. It’s about preventing decay, cavities, gum disease and more. Preventative practices that help keep these at bay include daily brushing and flossing, regular dental check-ups and routine cleaning.

We suggest check-ups and cleaning twice a year so we can perform a full assessment of your teeth and gums. These visits will also include a periodontal (gum) evaluation, bite analysis, and tooth-by-tooth examination to provide us with a clear picture of your oral health.

Preventative treatments include:

  • Gum disease
  • Decay
  • Clenching & grinding
  • Oral cancer screening

Root canals

Whenever possible, we want to preserve your natural teeth so if a tooth nerve starts to die or becomes severely inflamed due to deep decay or significant trauma, we will remove the infected tissue and disinfect the area. Once it’s clean, we seal it back up again. Sometimes the tooth may need a crown to protect the remaining tooth structure.

Dr Mark Calvert and his experienced team will always make sure you feel safe and comfortable during any procedure, and root canal treatment is no exception.

Children’s dentistry

Many of our patients have been coming to New Farm Dental Studio since their early years. Our dentists are all parents themselves so they understand first-hand how important it is to make the experience as positive as possible for your children.

We are committed to making your child’s visits stress-free and treat them with the same care and compassion we would want for our own children.

Free dental for children

New Farm Dental Studio bulk-bills the Medicare Child Dental Benefit Scheme (CDBS). This program provides financial support for dental treatment on eligible children who are aged between 2 and 17.

Please give us a bell on 07 3254 3222 and have your Medicare card number ready so we can help you to check whether your child is eligible.

Dental emergency

In a perfect world, you would only need dental services during regular business hours. However, in real life, situations arise that need emergency dental work after hours. We understand these are unusual circumstances and it can be distressing as well as inconvenient. Dr Mark Calvert and his team our skilled at handling all types of dental emergencies from toothaches to chipped or broken teeth, to impacted wisdom teeth and broken dentures. We will help deal with your dental emergency efficiently, addressing your issue and making you comfortable as quickly as possible.

Drug-free headache and migraine treatment

Of the many different causes of migraines and tension-type headaches, severe grinding with clenching of teeth is one of the most common causes.

Identifying the link between chewing or jaw muscles, and these debilitating headaches, is only possible by a thorough examination of the jaw function by a dentist skilled in this area of dentistry – and Dr Mark Calvert is one of them!

If you are suffering from headaches or migraines, come in for a chat and we will get to the bottom of your issue.

Sleep dentistry

Tired of feeling tired? It might be time to get a check-up. Sleep apnoea is a common sleep disorder that can have severely impact your lifestyle and your health. It’s caused by the soft tissue in the mouth blocking the airways as your muscles relax when you’re asleep. Somnodent is a simple and effective way to improve your sleep quality, reduce snoring and reduce your risk of other health problems that may result from severe sleep apnoea. Why not come in for a chat and find out more about what we can do to help.

Wisdom tooth removal

Because wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to appear, sometimes they can cause pain or discomfort if they don’t have enough space and can damage the other teeth as well as causing infections.

We can arrange a (bulk-billed) x-ray to show the position of your wisdom teeth and this will help us to decide whether removal is necessary.

A problematic tooth can be removed quickly and efficiently and once gone, you will find the discomfort will subside.
